Coordination Between Broadband Companies When Digging Up Our Streets

The Issue

My home is in Pangbourne, Reading, UK. For months now, my street and many others have been in utter disarray from the lack of coordination among fibre companies like Gigaclear, City Fibre, and Virgin. Neighbours, some of whom are vulnerable, are losing access to their driveways and pavements. This is more than a mere inconvenience; it disrupts everyday life and well-being.

When these companies dig up our streets, they act independently, without considering the effects of their actions on the community. Ideally, if they could coordinate their efforts and utilise the same conduit, this could potentially reduce the disruption caused by their operations. Their coordination can bring about not only a smoother process but also promising solutions even for similar instances in the future.

It is indisputable that the current system needs changing. If we unite and demand better coordination from these companies, the chances of making substantial improvements in how fibre companies conduct their operations will increase.

Our residences should not have to become a battleground for fibre companies. Efficient coordination can lead to a win-win scenario for both residents and companies through decreased disruption, destruction and potential cost savings. Act now and sign our petition to push these companies to up their game and deliver a service that respects our daily life and property.
