Convert Norris Park tennis courts to pickleball courts

The Issue

Our community deeply cherishes the sport of pickleball. It's not just a game for us; it's a beloved activity that brings together people of all ages, from young kids to the elderly. Many of us have found our passion for this sport and desire to see it grow in our local area.

Currently, the lack of accessible courts near us has made it challenging to keep up with our love for pickleball. Therefore, we propose updating the tennis courts at Norris Park to pickleball courts. This change would provide us with the opportunity to play locally rather than traveling to distant places.

Pickleball is rapidly gaining popularity across the nation. According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association, it's one of the fastest-growing sports, with over 4.8 million players in the United States. This growth mirrors the increasing demand for courts, and our community is a part of this trend.

Converting the Norris Park tennis courts would not only meet the current demand but also serve as an incubator for future players. It would support physical fitness, promote social interaction, and provide a recreational outlet for everyone in the vicinity.

We understand that change requires investment, and we are committed to collaborating with the local authorities to gather resources, apply for grants, and even organize community fundraisers to make this a reality. By endorsing this conversion, we can offer our community a dedicated space to participate in an inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable sport.

We urge the city council and park authorities to consider this conversion, providing us with the facilities we need to foster our community’s enthusiasm for pickleball. Please sign this petition to transform Norris Park's tennis courts into a haven for pickleball enthusiasts and help us cultivate a vibrant and active community.
