The Issue

Our team played a critical role in designing and managing the initial deployment of the X91 Chew Valley Sprint bus service. We've witnessed firsthand how this service has transformed daily commutes in our community, leading to a significant shift from car dependency to bus travel. This has not only eased traffic congestion on the roads leading into Bristol but has also reduced pollution, contributing positively to our local environment.

The X91 bus service was meticulously planned based on a comprehensive analysis of passenger needs and preferences. Over the past two years, the service has experienced steady growth, becoming a vital part of the lives of residents in the villages of Ubley, Compton Martin, East and West Harptree, Bishop Sutton, Chew Stoke, Chew Magna, and Dundry. These communities rely on a direct, single bus service to Bristol, which the X91 efficiently provides.

The potential discontinuation of the X91 bus service after July 2026 poses a serious threat to our community's connectivity and sustainability. Removing this service would likely force many residents back into their cars, undermining the progress we've made in reducing traffic and environmental impact. It would also disrupt the daily routines of countless individuals who depend on the bus for access to work, education, healthcare, and other essential services.

We urge the relevant authorities to consider the long-term benefits of maintaining the X91 bus service. Keeping it operational not only supports local economic growth by facilitating residents' access to the city but also reinforces the community's trust in public transportation. It also has huge potential as a leisure bus for city dwellers to increase their wellbeing by travelling to the countryside. We need assurance that this essential service will continue to serve these villages, allowing our community to plan and thrive with confidence.

Sign this petition to show your support for the continued operation of the X91 Chew Valley Sprint bus service, at its present frequency and including both ways bus stops in all of the following areas: Ubley, Compton Martin, East and West Harptree, Bishop Sutton, Chew Stoke, Chew Magna and Dundry .  Together, we can ensure sustainable and reliable bus travel for the future of our community.
