Continue the Construction of the Homeless Shelter at 2134 Coyle Street, Brooklyn NY 11229
The Issue
Witnessing the hardship those who lack shelter endure, especially in extreme weather situations, I was inspired to amplify their unheard voices. The dire need for the homeless shelter at 2134 Coyle Street, Brooklyn NY 11229, is one I personally feel, as it symbolizes hope and relief to those navigating through such trials. As highlighted by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, on a single night in January 2020, approximately 580,466 people in the U.S. were experiencing homelessness. This presents an alarming national issue, displaying a vital need for more facilities like the one on Coyle Street. This number indicates a 2.2% increase from 2019, a trajectory we must counterbalance by providing the necessary resources and support. In Brooklyn alone, an estimated 63,839 individuals are reportedly homeless, and this shelter could provide a place of security for many amongst them (Coalition for the Homeless, 2020). Our collective effort to see this project completed shall not only be a lifeline for the desperate and desolate but also a manifestation of our humanity. Join hands with us in ensuring the continuation of building this long-needed homeless shelter. Sign this petition and be part of the much-needed change. Please, lend your voice to the voiceless, and remember "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."- Winston Churchill. Let's give a home to those in need by ensuring this shelter is built.
