Stop the Yulin Dog and Cat Eating Festival

Stop the Yulin Dog and Cat Eating Festival
The Issue
Every year thousands of dogs and cats, many of them stolen pets, are captured from the streets of China. They are transported on long journeys in horrific conditions to the city of Yulin in China's Guangxi province for the Yulin festival. Here they are kept in cramped cages with no food or water until they are sold to be eaten. They are often beaten, tortured then have their throats slit or are skinned alive before being cooked to end up on someone's dinner plate. Over the ten days of the festival it is estimated that as many as 15,000 dogs are consumed.
Many Chinese citizens reject the practice of torturing and eating cats and dogs, and in 2015 Yulin authorities announced the festival would not take place. However, this was not the case and many many animals still lost their lives.
Please sign this petition to support the animals destined for Yulin in 2016. Let's show Chinese officials that the international community won't stand for this carnage any longer!
