This petition is important to the people of Caddington Woods, Caddington and Slip End. Our very wealthy neighbours in St Albans get active, traffic free travel treated as a matter of priority. Local government know what local people need and want and have the courage and will to act on it. And things get done.
Meanwhile here in Caddington, one objector is all it has taken to derail plans that an entire community of households in our community want. I do not believe that our local authority have the willpower and determination to deliver this greenway anytime soon. Only our continued disbelief at the lack of progress and prioritisation and our collective voices and pressure will make a difference. We have waited so long and seen no progress. Whilst staff at the authority (‘I am new to the project’) come and go. Leaving the project with no champion in the long term. Just continual delay.
It’s unacceptable.
On Sunday I explored the entire length of the original proposed route from Caddington Woods, all the way to Markyate and beyond. It would be very easy to physically develop a high quality greenway for us. I have seen this with my own eyes.
Please spread the word and share with friends family and neighbours. Tell them the story of how an entire community have united in one voice, how their wishes anre very clear and how these wishes continue to be ignored.
