Construct an Indoor Skatepark in Las Vegas, NV
The Issue
As a resident of Las Vegas, I am all too familiar with the extreme weather conditions we face. Our city is known for its scorching summers and chilly winters, leaving us with only about two months of comfortable outdoor weather each year. This makes it incredibly challenging for those of us who enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, skateboarding, and scootering.
We are calling on the city to construct an indoor skatepark that would allow us to practice our sport year-round, regardless of the weather outside. This facility would not only provide a safe and controlled environment for all of us but also promote physical activity among our youth.
Cities like Portland and New York have already recognized the benefits of indoor skateparks and have invested in these facilities. According to The Skatepark Project (formerly Tony Hawk Foundation), there are over 500 public skateparks in major cities across America but very few are indoors.
We envision a space similar in size to Craig Ranch Park's Skate Park - one that can accommodate both beginners and experienced bike riders, skaters, and scooter people alike. An air-conditioned facility like this could become a hub for our community, providing a much-needed respite from our harsh climate.
Join us in urging the City Council to invest in an indoor skatepark for Las Vegas. Sign this petition today!
