Construct a Sound Barrier Wall Along 23rd Ave in Mill Woods

Construct a Sound Barrier Wall Along 23rd Ave in Mill Woods
The Issue
We live in Mill Woods, Edmonton, AB, Canada, and our peace and tranquility is frequently disrupted by the cacophony of traffic and public events both day and night. The source of this noise is 23rd Ave, located just across from Mill Woods park. We can't enjoy our backyard any longer as 75% of the summer there are festivals happening across the street in Millwood Park combined with excessive traffic on 23rd Ave at all times of the day.
Noise pollution has been a significant issue in our community. It severely affects our quality of life, making it difficult for us to rest, relax, or even carry out a normal conversation in our own homes. This is not an isolated issue. Numerous peer-reviewed studies have found that long-term exposure to this kind of noise pollution can have a negative impact on mental and physical health [source: World Health Organization].
We are not asking for the festivals or traffic to cease. We understand their importance to the community and city at large. What we request is a sound barrier wall built along 23rd Ave from 72nd street to 66th street to reduce noise from traffic and public events. This countermeasure has been successful in numerous North American communities dealing with similar issues of noise pollution [source: U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration].
Help us take back our peace and tranquility while coexisting with the vibrant life that is the signature of our beautiful Mill Woods community. Please sign this petition to support the construction of a sound barrier wall along 23rd Ave in Mill Woods.
