I am a bishan resident for over 30 years(moving from St 13 to St 24) I have seen the neighbourhood improvements but there is one particular 'flaw' which I felt can be improved.

This particular slip road (Jln binchang), I have raised via many channels to build a continued high sheltered walkway or a zebra crossing for safety as there are many students and residents crossing this road daily either towards Catholic High School or towards bishan mrt.

A long sheltered walkway was built from bishan road up to bishan street 24, years ago, but at this last part of the slip road nearing Bishan mrt, the shelter stops halfway, leaving most people puzzled.

And, with no zebra crossing, some cars turn into the slip road without signalling, endangering the lives of students and residents walking there towards the school or homes.

We make an effort to look out for traffic but some cars turn without signal and actually pedestrians are the ones at fault as the cars have the right of way but the sheltered walkway further up was meant to be used, so naturally we will take this path to the school or mrt.

I have seen students dashing across in the rain without checking properly for traffic. I myself was horned by drivers who did not signal and I did not know he was turning in when I was crossing halfway. 

I am not sure why this sheltered walkway was built halfway and why they can't do a zebra crossing for safety reasons, if they couldn't complete the sheltered walkway fully to shelter us from the heat, rain and other elements.

Help me petition for either a complete sheltered walkway or a zebra crossing for safety reasons.
