North Vancouver is home to a vibrant and active community of skateboarders who currently lack access to an all-season covered skatepark. This petition seeks to address this by urging local authorities to build a public, permanent, and covered skatepark that can be used throughout the year. According to the Canadian Urban Institute, public spaces like skateparks contribute significantly towards community development and youth engagement (Canadian Urban Institute). Moreover, cities like Calgary have seen positive social impacts after investing in similar facilities (City of Calgary Public Spaces Report). By providing such a space in North Vancouver, we can foster inclusivity while promoting physical activity among our youth. We urge the City Council of North Vancouver to take action on this matter.
