The Issue

Kerala, a state in India, is facing a significant water management issue that can be mitigated by building a new dam. India is the world's largest user of groundwater, accounting for around 25% of the global total. In Kerala, many regions suffer from water scarcity, especially during summer months, despite the state receiving an annual rainfall of 3000mm, double the national average (India's Water Resource Information System). Addressing these challenges, it is critically important to construct a new dam. Such an infrastructure project will help store and manage water efficiently, guaranteeing a year-long supply. I urge our decision makers to prioritize this project for the betterment of our communities’ livelihood and overall environmental sustainability.
