Construct a Communal Dog Park in Mt Angel

The Issue

As a dog owner of two lively and playful dogs, I deeply understand how much our four-legged friends would benefit from having a dedicated space to roam and socialize. Our local park, Ebner park, is a wonderful place that could be made even more welcoming with the addition of a specific dog area. I'm urging our Local Council to construct a communal dog park in Ebner Park or any location in town, particularly due to the positive impact it will bring not only for our dogs but also for our community.

Dog parks promote physical and mental health for dogs as secure, fenced-in areas enable them to play and exercise freely off-leash. With the canine population in our area growing, a dog park would serve as a safe and controlled spot for them to socialize and play (American Veterinary Medical Association, 2018).

In addition, a dog park could enhance social connectivity within our neighborhood. A 2019 study in the Journal of Urban Health found that dog parks are one of the most, if not the most, sociable of city parks. A community where dogs and dog owners feel welcome is often thriving and happy.

Let's give our furry friends the freedom to run and engage with other dogs while creating meaningful social connections within our community. Let's use our voice to advocate for a worthwhile cause: let's urge our city council to construct a communal dog park in Ebner Park or any location in town. Please sign this petition today for a better tomorrow for our dogs and community.
