One, the 49, runs for approximately 15 miles from 79th street to Berwyn, whereas the other 49B, only runs for 3.8 miles from the Western Brown Line station to Howard, with some overlap between the two routes occurring. This is an inefficient distribution of bus routes, and this petition is advocating for these routes to be combined. The 9 bus on Ashland is approximately 16.2 miles, indicating that the longer routes are possible.
