Sierra Madre has been named as one of the savior of our country when it comes to calamities especially typhoons, it is the longest mountain range in the Philippines names as "The Backbone of Luzon" that protects almost everyone from the southern part of the Philippines. The Sierra Madre serves as a shield to typhoons coming from the Pacific Ocean.

Moreover, The Sierra Madre is home for a variety of unique endemic species that can be found only in the Philippines. Thus, with the continuous destruction by the people around it such as Mining and quarrying as it can lead to serious effects like Soil Erosion and damage. And the Deforestation, because cutting trees only makes the affected areas of the typhoon more vulnerable. Time after time the Sierra Madre would probably lose its purpose  as the home for the diverse ecosystem and a as a barrier for the country.

What if Sierra Madre is long gone after the problems have worsened and eventually destroyed the mountain completely?,

The place near the mountain would be vulnerable to typhoons as the Sierra Madre reduces the impact of destructive strong winds heavy rainfall. Moreover, Sierra Madre is not only a home for the indigenous people, but it's also their identity. The destruction of Sierra Madre also affects where they live, eventually losing their homes, and possibly the indigenous can get extinct. And as we all know that Sierra Madre is also a rich in resources. From the effects of human activities , these can greatly threaten the growth and production of food, water, and minerals.

The reason why the petition is made is because we need to speak out for Sierra Madre's condition and to reduce the use of human activities for pleasure. We need to warn people as well that doing these harmful activities gains nothing but harm on that said mountain. This was also made to encourage others to make better activities in regards to repairing the mountain like reforestation.
