The Issue

Wisconsin's 7th district has a long history of agriculture. Small businesses and family farms have been devastated by many years of poor policy, and those that remain often struggle to stay afloat.

The Farm System Reform Act seeks to help small family farms grow, compete in and contribute economically to our state. Family traditions in farming can continue to provide a living, and therein create better, healthier options for the consumer to buy products from American local farms and instead of imported food from Asia, Mexico or New Zealand.

This act will require COUNTRY OF ORIGIN to be labeled on beef, veal, lamb and pork meat and dairy products to help American farmers.

This lets American consumers know when they are buying foreign dairy or meat.

This act also provides grants, free money, debt relief for current mega-farms to transition away from large scale livestock production into other profitable ventures, and expands definitions of the Packer's and Stockyard's act of 1921 to help improve competition among business and protect consumers.
