Dear Cathy McMorris,

I am writing you because for many years now I have been a witness and a victim to increasing and outrages rent increases in Washington State.  I learned tonight that in Washington State it is illegal to have a rent cap. This floors me and outrages me. I'm sure my fellow Washington residents agree with me. For several years I have had to move due to increases in rent that I could not afford. I'm a single mom and I know I'm not the only one in this plight. Something must be done about this for the health and welfare as a whole. Please consider putting a rent cap in Washington State or put more affordable housing here that goes off a 30-40% of your income. Minimum wage workers in Washington State are dying here because there is not affordable housing and rent keeps increasing every year, sometimes outrageously. I have voted for you for many years because you have done good for our state and I believe in you. That is why I am writing to you now, if anyone can change the laws in this state it is you, please help the citizens of the State of Washington to have a livable rent.
