Those in federal offices should waive their rights to trade stocks while in office. These people are supposed to serve the people, but have been using insider trading to profit, while many Americans struggle to make ends meet. Some in Congress believe that insider trading doesn’t apply to them, and they are willing to profit off of National turmoil.  Owning stocks also brings in conflicts of interest into politics. Politicians will vote for whatever profits their portfolio.  The American people deserve a government that will put their people’s needs above their own.  Now is the time to demand higher standards from our government officials.  We must hold our government accountable, we must let them know that “We the people” hold the power.  When officials are earning $170,000 in salary a year and get exemptions allowing them to be above the law, power will be abused.  Let’s hold the people who represent us accountable.
