Let's make the full-time workweek 30 hours.

Let's make the full-time workweek 30 hours.
The Issue
In 1938, the workweek was reduced from 48 hours to 40 hours (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/where-did-40-hour-workweek-come-n192276). We can do it again.
A 40-hour workweek is counterproductive and harmful for everyone. People are more enthusiastic about the job and more productive when they've slept an adequate amount of time. The current 40-hour workweek standard is known to exhaust workers continuously and make them more likely to call in sick (whether true or false). Having a 30-hour workweek would not only improve the productivity of current workers, but it would also open up more jobs, essentially lessening the unemployment rate. Workers will be more rested for work, will not become ego depleted, and will have more time for themselves. This is also helpful to the business tycoons who will get more out of the standard week, have more reliable employees, and have an increased consumer pool (due to more people having money and people who have money having more time). We ALL need this! It only makes sense to reduce the standard workweek.
(This reduction in hours worked should also come with an increase in wages to maintain the same annual salary (for example, someone working for $20/hour at 40 hours/week should make $26.67/hour at 30 hours/week). Human beings need and deserve a living wage and disposable income in order to maintain or increase the quality of life. Whether you support this exact plan or not, there is no doubt that change must come. We are all tired. We are all overworked. Let's fix this together.
