Conduct a Road Maintenance Audit on Durant and Bryan County

Conduct a Road Maintenance Audit on Durant and Bryan County
The Issue
Living in Bryan County, Oklahoma, many of us, including myself, are experiencing unnecessary financial burdens due to the poorly maintained roads in our community. Time and again, I find myself paying for vehicle repairs that could have been avoided if the local infrastructure were better managed. This is not just my story; it's the story of many residents who are frustrated and feel let down by our county and city's negligence.
The roads in Durant and throughout Bryan County are riddled with potholes and show signs of severe neglect. The condition of our roads is not only a risk to our vehicles but also poses safety hazards to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. We must hold our local government accountable for the taxpayer dollars allocated for public services and amenities that we deserve but are not receiving.
To address this issue, we are calling for a comprehensive audit of the city of Durant and Bryan County. An audit will ensure transparency in how funds are being spent and highlight any discrepancies or mismanagement of our resources. By implementing this audit, we can press for improvements in road maintenance and overall infrastructure.
In recent years, residents have repeatedly voiced their concerns, but to no avail. The lack of action calls into question the effectiveness and integrity of our local governmental systems. According to data from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, effective management of local funds is paramount for community development and sustainability.
An audit will provide the necessary insights to reform financial policies and enhance our living conditions. It will also strengthen trust between the government and its citizens, as accountability fosters transparency and reliability.
Our roads should not be the reason for constant vehicle repairs and safety fears. We deserve better. Join me in holding the city of Durant and all of Bryan County accountable by signing this petition. With your support, we can demand the changes needed for well-maintained roads and a safer community.
