Assalamu'alaykum,

This petition is to condemn and demand an apology from the board at Muhammadi Masjid in Elmont, NY (, Rahim Sheikh and others) in regards to inviting extremist Daniel Haqiqatjou to the masjid as a speaker on April 26, 2023. The board was made aware of his extremism yet invited him anyway, in contradiction to the wishes of the majority of those in the community. Daniel Haqiqatjou has extreme viewpoints and does not represent the mainstream Sunni Muslim community’s values. Some of his problematic stances and actions include:

• Daniel has promoted violence against a public health official of the United States multiple times, calling for his hanging, and even stating that hanging him is not enough. “Lock his head in a mesh cage filled with hungry sand flies. I would say lock his head in a cage with hungry dogs, but I think it would be cruel to the dogs to feed them such filth.” 
• Promoting extremists ( such as Haytham Sayfaddin, Ahmad Musa Jibril who was convicted of 42 criminal charges, and others) who have connections to violent extremist organizations and have been accused, convicted and/or served time in US prisons for their crimes. 
• Daniel was himself banned from Twitter in 2021 due to his promotion of and participation in abuse and harassment.
• Daniel Haqiqatjou shockingly finds for common ground with Nazis and White Nationalists in webinars and podcasts 
• Daniel has created divisions within the Muslim community through unIslamic debate tactics such as lying, slandering, mockery, and name-calling against fellow Muslims and scholars in direct contradiction to the Quran and the Sunnah. Some of the scholars he has maligned include: Mufti Wasim Khan, Imam Zaid Shakir, Mufti Abdullah Nana, Mufti Menk, Shaykh Hamzah Walid Maqbul, Sh. Yasir Qadhi, Imam Azhar Subedar, Shaykha Dr. Tamara Gray, Sh. Rami Nsour, Sh. Omar Suleiman, Sh. Joe Bradford, Ust. Saajid Lipham, Ust. Fadel Soliman, Dr. Shadee Elmasry, Sh. Hamza Yusuf, Sh. Hasib Noor, Dr. Rania Awaad, Ust. Nouman Ali Khan, Sh. Haitham al-Haddad, Sh. Abdulnasir Jangda, Imam Suhaib Webb, Ust. Ieasha Prime, Ust. AbdelRahman Murphy, amongst others.

We are disappointed that the board of Muhammadi Masjid  would promote such a person within our community as an Islamic scholar while he does not even hold a bachelor's degree in Islamic studies. We the undersigned vehemently voice our condemnation of bringing such a controversial figure to our community and demand a public apology for this violation of the community’s trust.
