Dear Mr. President,

We, the undersigned, are Concerned Haitian American Citizens for Democracy, Justice, and peace in Haiti. We were all outraged by the horrific assassination of the President of Haiti, Mr. Jovenel Moise, on the night of July 6 and 7, 2021. Since his death, we have condemned strongly this barbaric act as a crime against humanity and a serious threat to DEMOCRACY across the globe. As president of the United States who was elected democratically, we urge your support to demand justice for President Moise and the Haitian people, and also for the respect of Haiti’s constitution and its sovereignty as an independent country. It is evident that Mr. Moise’s assassination is undoubtedly known by the whole world as both a national and international conspiracy to kill a democratically elected President.

It is important to note that given this fact, we emphatically believe that what happened to President Moise can happen again to any president or head of state anywhere in the world. Condemnation of the assassination by world leaders is not enough. We firmly believe that until and unless world leaders take strong initiatives to actively aid in the capture and arrest of all the accomplices associated with this assassination, this will happen again to another head of state. These paid assassins and all associated with this dastardly plot should be brought to justice and punished to the maximum extent of Haiti’s criminal laws. As Haitian Americans who believe in democracy and justice, we supported your presidency wholeheartedly. However, it has been over a year since the death of the Haitian president, and yet no single high level known accomplice has been brought to justice.

Moreover, according to the judiciary police, a branch of the police force in Haiti, the current Haitian Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, is one of the prime suspects responsible for the president’s assassination. Although the international community including the United Nations, the Organization of American States and Core Group, knows fully well that Mr. Henry is a de-facto Prime Minister and has no constitutional mandate to remain in power, these organizations willingly endorsed his position and have given him legitimacy; that is clearly an interference in the country’s political affairs.

For that reason, Mr. President, we believe that this act is totally intolerable and shamefully undemocratic. If the US claims that Haiti is a true friend, we demand your assistance to restore peace and law in order by supplying logistic reinforcement to the Haitian police force and the army to curb gang violence, instead of supporting a military intervention. Like Haitians and other people in the world, we, therefore, strongly oppose any form of international or US military force in the country because Haiti’s territorial sovereignty like other independent countries must be unconditionally respected and preserved. Otherwise, we, Concerned Haitian Americans, who have the right to vote will once and for all reconsider for whom to cast our ballots in any future elections. No justice No peace

Respectfully yours,
