Petition to the Halton District School Board Regarding Abbey Lane Public School

To: Trustees and Senior Administration, Halton District School Board

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, community members, and supporters of Abbey Lane Public School, are writing to express our serious concern regarding the sudden removal and reassignment of two valued staff members during the school year, including Mr. Luke Yourkevich and Ms. Robyn Sindrey.

These abrupt staffing changes have caused significant distress, confusion, and disruption for students and families. Many children formed strong, positive relationships with these educators and relied on the consistency, encouragement, and support they provided.

We are also concerned that these events reflect broader issues regarding school climate, communication, and leadership at Abbey Lane Public School. Families deserve confidence that decisions affecting students and staff are made thoughtfully, fairly, and with student well-being as the highest priority.

We respectfully call on the Halton District School Board to:

1. Review the circumstances surrounding these sudden staffing changes.

2. Assess the current school climate and leadership environment at Abbey Lane Public School.

3. Improve transparency and communication with families when significant disruptions affect students.

4. Ensure continuity of learning and emotional support for students impacted by these changes.

5. Prioritize a safe, positive, and stable school environment for all students and staff.

Our children deserve consistency, strong leadership, and a school environment where dedicated educators are supported and students can thrive.
