Concealed Armed Guards and Extensive Security Measures at All West Islip Schools

The Issue

We are here to request that the West Islip School District implements armed guards, security fences, and extensive security measures in every school building immediately.  Due to the increase in fatal school shootings, as well as local violent incidents, this has become a critical issue that can no longer be pushed aside. The West Islip School District needs to take responsibility for the safety and security of ALL human lives within their walls and on their property.

According to reports from the most recent tragedy in Nashville, the shooter aborted plans to target a different school in the area because it had too much security, thus proving that armed guards and a highly secured building will deter and discourage an active shooter.

It is now up to Superintendent Romanelli and the BOE to minimize the threat of violence to the highest degree possible by hiring full-time ARMED Law-enforcement, or at a minimum, concealed armed security personnel tasked with protecting students, teachers, faculty, and staff from these heinous acts of gratuitous violence.

As parents, members of this community, and concerned citizens of the United States of America - we must do everything in our power to protect our children.  Safety in our schools MUST come first and with urgency.  We look forward to coming together and working side by side as we are stronger together!
