Compensation for Recipients of Lost Tracked Post
The Issue
Historically, Royal Mail have alleged they will only provide the sender of an item to raise a compensation claim for lost or missing post sent via Tracked 24, Tracked 48 or Special Delivery.
This needs to change.
As the recipient has to spend time and money negotiating compensation claims with senders, some compensation, in the form or financial renumeration beyond issuing of stamps needs to be provided to cover the stress and additional work placed.
Recipients should not only be eligible for compensation, but should have the freedom to choose monetary renumeration, or company-issued credit. Provision of stamps as compensation is not justifiable as, due to the volume of delayed or lost (tracked) post.
Royal Mail has repeatedly failed to take action to address their abysmal processing and delivery time, requirements for which are stipulated under the Universal Service Offering.
