I live in an area where the lack of foliage along our roads is not just an aesthetic issue, but also a troubling reminder of neglect towards our environment and public spaces. Our roads, instead of being lined with lush greenery and providing habitats for local birds and wildlife, are bleak stretches of concrete. We shouldn't have to accept this as our reality.

Adding trees to these areas can do more than just enhance the visual appeal of our communities, it could reap considerable benefits. According to American Forests, planting trees near roads can reduce runoff and erosion by 30% and they absorb harmful pollutants, providing cleaner air for our communities (American Forests, 2020). Another shocking fact is that the UK has some of the lowest tree coverage in Europe 

Let's encourage our government to turn this problem into an opportunity by planting trees along our roads. Not only can we improve the appearance of our neighborhoods, but also take action against issues like air pollution and soil erosion. It's a small step towards creating a healthier, more sustainable world for ourselves, and future generations. This issue is personal to me, but it should be personal to us all.
