Commute Tien H. Mo's Life Sentence and Grant Her a Parole Hearing Immediately

The Issue

Tien H. Mo has been incarcerated since she was just 18 years old, sentenced to Life Without the Possibility of Parole (LWOP) as a youth offender. Today, at the age of 43, she has spent over half her life behind bars - a total of more than 24 years. Despite this harsh sentence that many would consider cruel and unusual punishment for a crime committed as a youth, Tien has shown an unwavering commitment to rehabilitation, healing and personal growth.

While in prison, Tien has actively participated in various self-help groups and workshops with many focusing on restorative justice and victim impact. This dedication demonstrates her remorse for past actions and her desire to make amends.

Let us acknowledge the humanity that resides in each of us and show mercy to a once broken 18 year old that recognizes she made the worst decisions on the worst day of her life.

It is time for our justice system to recognize Tien's efforts towards rehabilitation and grant her an immediate parole hearing. The continuation of her LWOP sentence does not serve justice but only perpetuates punishment without any chance for redemption or reintegration into society.

Please sign this petition calling for commuting Tien H. Mo's LWOP sentence and granting her an immediate parole hearing so she can have the opportunity to demonstrate how much she has changed during these long years in prison.
