COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR JESSICA-A Vital Member Since 2008

The Issue

We, the undersigned members of the community, are writing to express our strong support for the humanitarian and compassionate application of Jessica, who has been an integral part of our community since 2008. Jessica has demonstrated exceptional commitment to our community, and her continued presence in Canada is vital for both her well-being and that of those who rely on her.

Jessica arrived in Canada from China in 2008 with a study permit to pursue higher education at the University of Alberta. Over the past 16 years, she has become a dedicated and hardworking individual who has integrated seamlessly into our community. Her journey in Canada has been marked by resilience, commitment, and a deep sense of belonging. We want to show Immigration Canada that removing her from Canada and separating her from the life she has built here would be very difficult for her, her friends, her community, and her family.

The uncertainty surrounding her immigration status and the possibility of returning to China have caused significant emotional distress for Jessica. The stability and support she has found in Canada are crucial for her mental health and overall well-being. Forcing her to leave would exacerbate her distress and negatively impact her mental health.
Jessica has built strong personal relationships and support networks within our community. She has a long time common-law partner who is unaware of her immigration struggles, as well as many friends who consider her a vital part of their lives. Her continued presence in Canada is essential for the well-being of these relationships. She is also a positive role model for the children of her friends, contributing to their emotional and social development.

Jessica has been financially independent, supporting herself through her hard work in Canada. She has diligently filed her income taxes every year, contributing to the Canadian economy. Her financial stability is crucial for her continued success and integration. She has never been a burden on the government and has consistently contributed to the community and economy. Over the years, Jessica also helps managing few rental properties for friends, and she is always striving to offer fair rental rates or lower than market rental rates considering tenants' needs. This also demonstrates her commitment to providing affordable housing for responsible tenants.

If Jessica were forced to return to China, she would face numerous challenges and hardships. After 16 years away, reintegrating into a society that has evolved significantly would be extremely difficult. The cultural and professional landscape in China has changed, and Jessica’s education and work experience, which have been entirely in Canada, would not easily translate to the highly competitive job market there. This disconnect could severely limit her employment opportunities and financial stability.

Emotionally and psychologically, Jessica would experience profound distress. The life she has built in Canada, including her strong support networks and sense of belonging, is crucial to her mental health. Being uprooted from her established life and leaving behind her common-law partner, close friends, and the role she plays as a positive influence in her community would exacerbate her anxiety and uncertainty.

Leaving Canada would mean losing the country she considers home—a place where she has grown, built her identity, and realized her dreams. The emotional and practical repercussions of leaving behind the life she has established in Canada would be deeply heartbreaking for Jessica.

In light of the humanitarian and compassionate reasons outlined above, we respectfully request that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) favorably consider Jessica’s application for permanent residency. Her continued presence in Canada would allow her to further contribute to our society and build a stable, fulfilling life.

We appreciate your time and consideration of this petition and hope for a positive outcome for Jessica.
