The Issue

As a resident in the 36 Ward, I am concerned about the repeated discovery of deceased cats in our neighborhood. This situation appears to be occurring with increasing frequency, raising concerns not only for the safety and well-being of animals, but also for the health and safety of residents. As part of a school project focused on community safety and awareness, this effort aims to gather information and encourage attention to a pattern that may otherwise go unnoticed. Our goal is not to assign blame, but to better understand what is happening and to help prevent further incidents.

As a cat owner myself, this issue is especially concerning. I care deeply about the safety of pets in our community, and this situation has created worry among residents, especially families with children. Some children living in my residence have witnessed these deceased animals, which has been upsetting. No child should have to experience that, and everyone deserves to grow up in a safe, welcoming, and supportive neighborhood. Additionally, deceased animals can potentially pose health risks and may spread illness if not properly handled. Because of this, it is important that the situation is acknowledged and taken seriously in order to protect the safety and well-being of everyone in the community.

Current residents of the 36 ward and I, respectfully ask for increased awareness, community cooperation, and, if necessary, further review by appropriate local services to ensure that both animals and people in our neighborhood remain safe.
