According to the Moorestown Patch, the Mayor and Council will hold a special meeting on Nov. 1, at 3:00 p.m. to discuss the low income housing issue. The meeting is NOT open to the public. Here is the news release: "Moorestown Council will meet in closed session to discuss affordable housing in the township. A special meeting will take place in the donut room at town hall on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 3 p.m., township officials announced on Friday. Town hall is located at 111 West Second Street. According to the announcement, council will consider a resolution to enter into closed session for matters related to litigation, negotiations and the attorney-client privilege, related to an affordable housing update. Formal action may be taken." I would like to think the Council is not going to make any decisions that would forever bind the taxpayers of this town to an agreement or settlement of the pending lawsuit, including the 150-unit low income apartment project on Hartford Road. However, given the lack of transparency on this issue thus far, I have some concerns that they may be meeting to discuss some form of settlement of the law suit, which would then remove this issue from public comment. If you feel strongly about this issue, you may want to contact the Mayor and Council members directly to request that they not make any drastic decisions on this issue without further public comment. The email addresses and phone #'s for the Mayor and Council are on the Moorestown Township website. Additionally, various members of this Group are meeting Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please contact us by sending an email to: "marifho@yahoo.com". Thank you.
