The Issue

“Bring a Community Aquatic & Wellness Center to Belton, Texas”

Living in the heart of Belton, Texas, I have witnessed firsthand the growing need for a centralized hub focused on health, wellness, rehabilitation, recreation, and community connection. Through my own life experiences and recovery journey, I have become passionate about advocating for a Community Aquatic & Wellness Center for the residents of Belton.

This facility could offer critical amenities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools for both recreational and therapeutic use, aquatic exercise programs, low-impact rehabilitation opportunities, family recreation areas, and spaces that encourage wellness and community engagement for all ages.

The benefits to our city would be far-reaching. A Community Aquatic & Wellness Center could help improve public health, promote physical activity, support rehabilitation and recovery, reduce stress, encourage social interaction, and provide safe year-round recreational opportunities for families, seniors, veterans, children, and individuals with disabilities.

Swimming and aquatic exercise are not only enjoyable activities, but also highly effective forms of low-impact, full-body exercise that support cardiovascular health, mobility, joint function, and overall well-being.

Belton’s strong sense of community and continued growth make it an ideal location for a facility centered around wellness, recreation, and quality of life. Communities with access to aquatic and wellness centers often experience positive public health outcomes and increased community engagement.

The economic benefits could also be significant. Construction, staffing, programming, and ongoing operations could create local jobs while attracting visitors and supporting surrounding businesses.

We respectfully encourage the Belton City Council, Parks & Recreation Department, community leaders, healthcare professionals, and local businesses to explore the feasibility and future planning of a Community Aquatic & Wellness Center for Belton, Texas.

Together, we can help build a healthier, stronger, and more connected community where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
