Oak Flats is a close knit community of almost 7000 people with 25% over 60 years of age.

The CommBank ATM in Oak Flats was recently removed and replaced with a privately owned ATM. This new ATM now charges a fee for service of approximately $2.50 per transaction, including a simple balance enquiry. This leaves 3 ATMs in the suburb, all of which are now managed with a fee for service (excluding Bendigo Bank members at one of the machines).

The nearest alternate CommBank facility is in the Stockland Shellharbour Shopping Complex, 5 km away. Many of the elderly are now significantly disadvantaged by having to go into the Stockland complex to do their banking. Over the years the community has lost a number of primary banking facilities, including a CommBank shopfront. We were assured at the time that a Commbank presence would remain by having access to the ATM. 

This petition requests that CommBank review their decision and return the ATM to the community.
