The gene green skatepark is a sanctuary for many, and is where many people enjoy the sport of skateboarding as a hobby and to have fun. During COVID-19, Gene Green Skatepark is one of the only skateparks to have remained closed in the Houston area. Gene Green Skatepark would give many people something to do during this time of pandemic. If other skateparks are open, the trail is open, why shouldn’t the skatepark be allowed to reopen for the youth during this time. The park has been closed for 5 months now, and has not reopened. This has led to many skaters skating in places that they shouldn’t be, loitering and littering in the community surrounding the park. Skaters aren’t even allowed to skate at a skatepark, the one place they should be allowed to skate. The skatepark will boost productivity and bring more people outside to the skatepark and off of their phones and internet for a few hours a day, making more people active and bringing something fun to the kids. While skating at a skate park, skaters usually social distance anyways, when you’re skating, you usually are trying a trick or skating around, not staying in the same place for too long and keeping your distance from others.
