We the residents of Hashimpur, Prayagraj are unimaginably perturbed over the government’s plan to construct a fly-over in front of our homes, on the following grounds:

1. Our homes are on a slope. Last year alone trucks and tractors lost control and rammed into homes, on 3 occasions. We are apprehensive that motorcycles, trucks, cars, shall go flying into our homes, killing us.

Flyovers are not meant for residential areas. We shall hold the government responsible for mishaps if any. We have seen news videos of vehicles flying over flyovers.

2. The flyover will cast a great shadow on our neighbourhood. Shadows harbour criminals and drug-addicts. Our neighbourhood already has a slum where crime and drugs are rampant. This fly-over shall create favourable privacy for miscreants and their misdeeds.

3. We have been living on this road for decades, and have never experienced a traffic jam on it. We do not see any need for a flyover.

4. Our parking space, land, fresh air and sunshine shall go. Our homes shall be rendered unliveable.

5. The work shall go on a long time, disturbing pipelines, sewage lines, our peace of mind and health. Many of us have just recovered from COVID19, and our lungs are too weak to bear the dust that shall be raised by the construction work. Any deaths or loss of health that is caused during this time shall be attributed to the government.

We can’t see the need for a fly-over. The railway crossing stops the movement of traffic for no longer than the sequence of the new traffic lights from Balsons’ Crossing to Civil Lines. The wait period is not extraordinary at the crossing. Smart cities are meant to create a better environment for citizens, not create hellish conditions for them. We plead with you, do not construct this flyover. It is not required. Please save our fresh air and sunshine.

The advantage created by the fly-over is trivial compared to the harm and disruption caused by it. We appeal to the justice inside you. Please stop this construction immediately.
