Commissioner Amadio Must Resign

The Issue

The most basic responsibility of a City Commissioner is to execute faithfully and diligently the laws to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare.

Commissioner Amadio has failed in this responsibility and endangered the safety of White Plains residents and visitors. Commissioner Amadio must resign or be removed from office.

There is a lot of talk about the Mayor and Common Council not doing something about the lack of parking garage inspections. While there may be some merit to the question, the fact is that the Mayor and Council, and the public at large, rely on the professional staff of Commissioners, Department Heads, and Agency Directors to faithfully and professionally carry out their roles and ensure the public health, safety, and welfare.

Without the ability to rely upon a professional staff the City could not function. The professional staff are the paid, fulltime professionals. The Mayor and Common Council parttime.

Beyond the dereliction of duty, no organization can properly function without trust. Commissioner Amadio has broken the trust of the people and of the City administration. He must resign so that a competent Commissioner may takeover to ensure that public health, safety, and welfare are once again the main goal of the Building Department and trust can be restored.

Thank you for keeping our Great City the best place to live in Westchester County!
