Commission Faunagraphic for new replacement Bluetit Manchester mural
The Issue
The streets of Manchester were once graced by the vibrant and awe-inspiring mural of a blue tit, painted by the talented street artist, Faunagraphic. Unfortunately, this beloved piece of art, which once animated our urban environment and brought joy to countless passersby, is planned to be removed whilst undergoing refurbishment, leaving a void both on the wall and in our community.
For many, this mural wasn't just an artwork; it was a symbol of our city's spirit, brimming with life, color, and a touch of whimsy. It attracted people from all walks of life and became a backdrop for countless photographs, reminding us of the beauty that can be found in unexpected places. As the building (the old Hatters Hostel) enters its next chapter of redevelopment under its new property owners, Aroundtown SA, the original mural's story is coming to a close. But a landmark wall with this much cultural weight shouldn't be left as a blank corporate slate.

We are calling on Manchester City Council, local planning authorities, and Aroundtown SA to work directly with the original artist, Faunagraphic, to ensure that this space continues to reflect the soul and character of the Northern Quarter , but would also reaffirm its commitment to supporting local artists and preserving the animated character of our city.
