Commemorate Charlie Kirk with Memorial Plaza at UVU

Commemorate Charlie Kirk with Memorial Plaza at UVU
The Issue
I am a conservative from Utah who firmly believes in the protection of our God-given rights. As an advocate for free speech, I find it fitting and necessary to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk by naming a significant place at Utah Valley University (UVU) in his memory.
Charlie Kirk was more than just a founder and CEO of Turning Point USA; he was an inspirational figure in the conservative movement. He passionately spoke for voices that are often drowned out in modern academia. Tragically, his vibrant life was cut short on September 10, 2025, near the outdoor food court of UVU—a place where he addressed and inspired many.
In remembrance of his contributions and the tragic event of his passing, I propose that the outdoor quad near the food court be officially named "Charlie Kirk Memorial Plaza." This dedication not only honors his legacy but also reinforces UVU's commitment to free speech and diverse viewpoints.
This memorial will serve as a constant reminder of the values he cherished and will inspire future generations of students and faculty to advocate for freedom of expression. Naming the quad after Charlie Kirk will create a lasting legacy that aligns with the values of many in Orem, UT, and beyond.
We urge the Utah Valley University Administration, Board of Trustees, and President Tuminez to take immediate action in this commemoration. Let us ensure that Charlie Kirk's visionary spirit continues to live on through this meaningful dedication.
We call upon students, faculty, alumni, and supporters of free speech and conservative values to join us in signing this petition. Together, we can make the "Charlie Kirk Memorial Plaza" a reality and honor a true champion of free speech.
