Stop The Sale of ‘Single Use’ Red Noses for Comic Relief.

The Issue

All over the country, people of all ages are being asked to buy a red nose to support Comic Relief.  This is a form of single use plastic on a large scale that has no place in today’s world.  At a time when plastic pollution awareness is at an all time high, we need to be finding other ways to raise money for worthy causes. The red noses sold across the country in support for Comic Relief are essentially single use plastic. We urge the BBC, and Comic Relief, to be at the forefront of change. Instead of being in the news for schools banning the sale of your Red Noses, you could be showing other charities such as the Poppy Appeal and Marie Curie Cancer Trust how to adapt to a more eco friendly fundraising approach. Perhaps you could sell Red Face Paint, or completely compostable paper noses? I urge you to think of the message we are sending our children when we ask them from the age of 4 to buy a new Red Nose every year in school. This over consumption of throw away plastic must stop.
