Joshua Deiandre Ruffin was shot and succumbed to his wounds from a Columbia police officer on April 8th, 2020. 

The officers were sent to the Eau Clair neighborhood to patrol after receiving reports of car robberies. While patrolling one of the officers noticed Joshua walking and approached him, once he stepped out of the patrol car Joshua ran. The officers alleged during the chase Joshua pulled a gun, causing the officer to shoot him once. 

The bullet hit his front upper body. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his wounds due to complications from the gunshot wound. The officer was placed on administrative leave with pay and is still unidentified. The body cam footage is still to be released. His mother still has yet to receive his autopsy report. 

The question is why Joshua was confronted merely for walking through the neighbourhood. 

We are trying to reach the attention of Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin and the Columbia Police Department to demand to have the officers involved face more repercussions.
