Lowering the Price of Insulin

The Issue

One of the biggest problems for diabetics across the nation is the price of insulin. As a Type One diabetic, I am insulin dependent. I will always need insulin and the prices of insulin are not always affordable. One vial can cost between $93-$900 per month. The problem with insulin being expensive is that we have to take insulin throughout the day, when we eat, or any other time our blood sugar is high. Insulin is what keeps us diabetics alive. The prices of insulin for many families can cause a great amount of financial trouble. Even with insurance, insulin is not the most affordable. There are many other costs to diabetes such as insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, blood sugar tests, and syringes. With other medical supplies involved, lowering the prices of insulin would help many families across the U.S.
