STOP Port Adelaide from wearing Collingwood Football Clubs Colours...BLACK & WHITE.

STOP Port Adelaide from wearing Collingwood Football Clubs Colours...BLACK & WHITE.

The issue

Port Adelaide want to wear Collingwood Colours in all their games...this petition is to let them know that Collingwood were the First Team to wear Black & White in the VFL-AFL Competition, also the original Magpies.

Collingwood have worn the Black and White Bars Jumper since their Inception in 1892, and have never changed this up to the present day.

Port Adelaide have not worn the Prison Bar Jumper as they call it...throughout their History (It is actually the Wharf & Pylon Jumper...as the Design came from a 1901 Photo of the Port Adelaide Wharf).

Port Adelaide FC started in 1870 in the SANFL, but didnt wear the Black and White Colours till 1902, ten years after Collingwood, and also took on the Magpie Mascot after copying the Greatest Club in the VFL- AFL era, namely Collingwood FC.

The reason why Port Adelaide changed their colours to Black & White in 1902, was, because their preferred colours which was Magenta, became too expensive.

In 1951, Port Adelaide walked down North Terrace in Collingwood Jumpers(Donated to them by the Collingwood FC), for the 1951 Australian Jubilee celebrations and even won a Premiership in them.

Port wore their so called Prison Bar jumper only from 1902-1923, 1928-1940 and 1953-1996, not for 150 years as they have claimed.

The First Jumper Port Adelaide FC wore in 1870, was Pale Blue and White horizontal stripes, which they wore from 1870-1876. Some players wore Jumpers with White on the top half and Navy Blue on the bottom half from 1870-1876.

From 1877-1882 they wore a completely Pink Jumper, and were known as the 'Cockle Divers'.

From 1884-1901 they Dyed the Pink to Magenta and added Blue yoke on the top half of the jumper. From these years 1888-1901 some players also wore Magenta Jumpers with a Rounded yoke version. From 1893-1901 some players wore Magenta jumpers with the Yoke removed and replaced with Blue stripes. From 1896-1901 some players wore Magenta jumpers with the Stripes closer together. From 1897-1901 some players wore the Magenta jumpers with no stripes. In 1901 Some players wore Magenta jumpers with very wide Blue stripes.

The only VFL-AFL football club to have worn the Black & White Colours throughout their History is, the Collingwood Football Club and we should not allow another club to wear Collingwoods Colours, in the AFL.
