Background: The Collingwood Football Club, between the seasons of 2002 and 2004, captured the imaginations of thousands of supporters with elegant style of football which had brought them to two Grand Finals in three years. This period of Collingwood was iconic, and was the rebirth of the Collingwood identity. The visual representation of this new era at Collingwood is encapsulated in what is most known as the 'Swooping Magpie' jumper.

What is the 'Swooping Magpie'? This kit was first used in the preseason of 2002 and featured a bold, determined and ferocious swooping magpie. This element of the jumpers' design struck fear into our opponents who trembled at the might of the Swooping Magpie. This jumper went on to be worn in several games following and left its mark on many supporters, including myself who see the jumper as a throwback to a time where Collingwood was truly the envy of the nation.

What does the 'Swooping Magpie' mean to myself/us? This is more than just a jumper, it is a philosophy which all Collingwood fans can get behind. The Swooping Magpie represents the domination of Collingwood throughout the league.

Proposal: This is why I am proposing along with the many petition signers that in coincidence with Collingwood's swooping return to finals form, we need a jumper, whether it is based off of the original or a redesigned swooping magpie, which can embody this new era of domination.
