students are told they don’t qualify for snap benefits but yet any income they make goes automatically into the income bracket for the family which means lower snap benefits but the college student isn’t allowed any allotted benefits for food themselves they are exempt from receiving because they choose to better they lives then to work full time at some low paying jobs please help put an end to this madness it’s already a struggle to get ahead in this world and now your discouraging young adults from better education because it affects whole family’s! Imagine being 18+ years old and having younger siblings whom all are dependent on snap benefits and because your 18 and older trying to get better education to make better pay in order to move out and be an adult eventually and feeling bad about taking food benefits from your families/siblings just simply for going to college! Sign and help make this right be the change…. We need to fix this issue asap but we need everyone to help Delaware health and social services are aware of the situation and they also don’t agree with it they said spread the word and get the state senators to listen we can together make a change! Our children matter even after 18!!! How are they going to be punished for trying to make a better decision in life????? It’s not making sense they cannot eat because they go to college? Most college doesn’t offer food I know my child’s doesn’t she drives there everyday Monday through Friday and has to bring food and especially would appreciate dinner at home and not feel guilty because her income impacts our family but doesn’t allowed her to have and snap benefits to help cover her portion of dinner! Its not right!
