Every year, thousands of college students are wasting money through their school meal plans. Many colleges, specifically Chapman University, overcharges us for one of four meal plans they offer, which as freshman, we are required to choose. With the annual price of each meal plan reaching almost $6000, we are spending about $2000 more than the national average of a college student if they were to buy their food from outside sources (restaurants) or go grocery shopping. This is unacceptable considering the high tuition many of us are already paying.

With this petition, we want Chapman to either offer more affordable meal plans, or not require freshman to buy a meal plan at all. Most of us don't use all of our swipes every week, and for the meal plan with the least amount of meals per week (10) offered, for every meal swipe you don't use, you're wasting about $15.
