2020 has been a year full of unprecedented moments. From the moment Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz tested positive for Covid-19, the world shut down. Schools shut down, restaurants shut down, businesses shut down, the NBA shut down, and College Football got shut down. All the aforementioned entities were able to work around the effects of the virus and do so effectively. College Football has struggled enormously, however. The Power 5 conferences jumped the gun and cancelled their seasons, leaving the G5 schools in the dust, forced to cancel as well. When the SEC, ACC and Big 12 decided not to jump ship, the rest of the conferences backpedaled on their decision to not play, deeming it was now safe to play. I think we can all agree that we’re grateful that College Football is being played, but this year, among all the chaos and lack of security, we all deserve a shot to see what an 8 team Playoff would look like. The Committee decided to not expand the playoff, and instead we will see yet another year of Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and most likely Notre Dame. Teams like Cincinnati, BYU, Florida, Texas A&M and even Coastal Carolina have been making a strong case for either NY6 or Playoff consideration. I think we all deserve to see something new this year.
