Retire Jason Preston’s Ohio Jersey

Retire Jason Preston’s Ohio Jersey
The Issue
Jason Preston led the Ohio University Men’s Basketball team to the NCAA Tournament in 2021, the Bobcats’ first tournament appearance since 2012, and during his last year at Ohio before being drafted to the Los Angeles Clippers. He is the first Ohio University basketball player to go to the NBA since 2003.
Preston was named most valuable player of the MAC Tournament after leading Ohio to the title. On March 20, 2021, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, he helped the 13th-seeded Bobcats to a 62–58 upset victory over fourth-seeded Virginia, recording 11 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. His final year at Ohio, as a junior, Preston averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game, earning First Team All-MAC honors.
Additionally, during his junior season, his inspirational backstory gained national attention with publishings by ESPN, Bleacher Report, USA Today, NBC News, Yahoo Sports, and more. Preston is completing his degree with online courses at Ohio University while recovering from his injury during his rookie season. He has inspired many people around the world, made significant accomplishments as an athlete for Ohio, and his #0 jersey has not been retired.
By signing this petition, you are nominating Jason Preston‘s jersey for retirement. We are demanding that Ohio University Athletic Director, Julie Cromer, Head Coach Jeff Boals, the Athletics Executive Team, and the Athletics Administration (staff directory found here) take this under consideration and move forward in the process of retiring his jersey.
