CODY CECIL - SENTENCING FOR CANNABIS

CODY CECIL - SENTENCING FOR CANNABIS
The Issue
Cody Cecil is facing 2-5 years in prison for cannabis in West Virginia! His charges are possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and cultivation of marijuana. These charges stem from a December 2021 incident where police illegally raided his rv. They found a few cannabis plants and related items in his vehicle along with some gummies, rso, and some cannabis. His story went viral with almost 200,000 views! You can view the raid and learn more about his story by visiting https://youtu.be/oJsvvQwAIE4?si=RMnLp05iHhAdf_FQ
Given the potential severity of the charges, Cody is seeking your help. He will be sentenced on July 2, 2024, at 9:00 AM! Please sign this petition if you agree with this message to the judge asking him to give Cody probation. You can also show solidarity and come to court support on the sentencing day! Your Honor Judge Alfred E. Ferguson,
I am writing to politely ask for your leniency in sentencing Cody in Case #22-f-221.
Cody is a non-violent individual who is the sole provider and caregiver for his family. This includes his mother, pregnant fiancé, and two young sons diagnosed with autism. An extended sentence would create a significant hardship for his entire dependent family.
Beyond his immediate family, Cody is a well-respected member of the community. He is known for his generosity in sharing his knowledge of cannabis cultivation techniques, genetics, equipment sourcing, and even consumption methods – all with a focus on responsible use. He extends this knowledge further by providing educational classes and creating sobriety plans to help others in the community.
It is important to note that cannabis laws are rapidly evolving. Currently, 47 states, including West Virginia, have legalized cannabis in some form. Many people believe, as I do, that cannabis should not be considered a criminal offense, especially considering its potential medical benefits.
Given Cody’s non-violent nature, his critical role as a caregiver, and the changing landscape of cannabis laws, I respectfully request that you be as lenient as you can when sentencing Cody and consider giving him probation. Giving Cody probation would allow him to continue providing essential support for his family and maintain his positive contributions to the community.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
