Codify Marriage Laws Protecting LGBTQ+ rights

Codify Marriage Laws Protecting LGBTQ+ rights
The Issue
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how it feels to have one's rights in limbo. I have seen firsthand the stress and uncertainty caused by the lack of secure marriage laws that protect all citizens regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. When we live in a modern society, it's imperative that we have laws that reflect this and protect all citizens, regardless of who they love.
Around the globe, 29 countries have legislated same-sex marriage as of October 2021 (source: Pew Research Center). This is only roughly 15% of the world's 195 countries, clearly indicating the long journey toward equality we still have to undertake. In the United States, while the prominent Obergefell v. Hodges decision in 2015 led to federal recognition of same-sex marriage rights, there is no federal legislation that upfrontly protect such rights. This subjects marriage rights to potential reversals or state-level limitations.
Securing a codified law for LGBTQ+ marriage rights is not just about legalising marriage; it's about affirming the dignity and human rights of each individual. It is about freedom, equality, and justice. It is about making sure that every single person feels accepted, secure, and protected.
It's time to take a stand for love and equality. Let's call on lawmakers to codify LGBTQ+ marriage rights in our laws, and ensure that these rights are secure, once and for all. Please, sign this petition and make a huge difference in the lives of millions of people who merely want to love freely and live authentically.
