Unblock Google on Cobb County School Wifi
Unblock Google on Cobb County School Wifi
The Issue
Cobb County Schools are great places to learn and get ready for college. However, there are some issues. To name one of them, the WiFi blocks several sites in which are quite helpful for learning and organization. I am one of the several students in which have to experience this issue everyday. Although the school does not block everything, most things are blocked. This is understandable; this helps make Cobb County schools more distraction-free. However, the CCSDWireless network offered at Cobb County Schools has gone too far with blocking sites. This has gone so far that even some features of CTLS, the Cobb County virtual learning platform, are blocked.
Clearly, the Cobb County WiFi has been given capabilities to block many more sites than it should. For example, everything Google is blocked. I can understand how Cobb County wants to keep Google Search blocked, however, all of Google is just too much. I use resources Google offers, such as Keep, to keep myself organized at school. Also, several students use Google Classroom, as requested by their teachers. However, using these resources at school is nearly impossible if a student is using their own device. School computers do not block Google, due to being connected to a different network than students' own devices, however, students do not always have access to school computers, or they just prefer their own device. Therefore, it would be fair to unblock Google on the CCSDWireless network offered at Cobb County Schools. The benefits outweigh any negatives. With access to Google at schools, students would have organization and learning resources at their fingertips, and they will therefore learn better and be more organized.
Please sign this petition and help get the attention of the Cobb County Board of Education. I would appreciate it, and so would other Cobb County students.
