A staggering number of Coatesville Area School District emoloyees were furloughed on Monday, May 18, 2020. Some of these individuals live in Coatesville and volunteer their time within the community to exemplify for their students the relationship between education, service and compassion. The teachers that were furloughed all bring many years of experience and mentorship that Coatesville Area School District desperately needs now more than ever. 
Many factors “necessitated” these furloughs including declining enrollment and budgetary concerns, however there HAS to be other ways to mitigate that other than the loss of so many dedicated and loyal teachers. These teachers have maintained that loyalty and stood with CASD in its darkest hours, now it’s time to show our gratitude and stand with them. 
PLEASE, write to the district and the PA Department of Education urging them to revisit this situation, come up with alternatives to these furloughs, and to issue recalls. WE NEED OUR TEACHERS BACK.
