Normalize Bidets As An Essential Bathroom Accessory

The Issue

We are trying to eliminate the discrimination of bidets in common culture and media. For too long, bidets have been made scapegoats of ridicule. Many T.V. shows and movies have shown the trivial downsides of bidets, without highlighting the benefits that this elegant system would have on our environment, our economy, our collective hygiene, and our comfortability.

Bidets eliminate the excessive use of toilet paper needed to clean up afterwards, using only 1/8th of a gallon on average per use. Compare this with extensive use of materials needed to manufacture rolls of toilet paper, it’s easy to see that installing a bidet and using it infrequently can lower both your cost of living, as well as your carbon footprint.(https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/earth-talks-bidets/

Despite depictions in media (movies, t.v. shows, news outlets, etc.), owners and frequent users of bidets commonly remark that not only is the cleaning job faster, but more through and accessible, requiring less effort than reaching. Most retirement homes already include bidets, as caretakers are already aware of its usefulness.

If you have gotten this far, and you feel persuaded, you have the option to go to your hardware store and look at their selection of bidets. Common handheld bidets range from $30-$60, Installed bidets provide extra comfort for the jump in price if that’s what you are into. Then you tell us whether you feel happier and healthier with your new bidet!
